The creator of locally made ZAGS “sunwraps”—now sold in four styles and dozens of designs—shares what she did on her summer vacation, ponders college-football fashion, and more
Q What’s new with ZAGS?
A We recently launched more than 20 new designs and received an upgraded UPF (ultraviolet protective factor) rating to 50 plus. We also just added a brand-new style: the “Party Poncho,” a pop-over sunwrap that’s great for the kiddos and mommas, too!
Q Tell us the skin care products you swear by.
A I love spritzing Rehydrating Neroli Water on my face after a hot day in the sun. And for that great beach scent: Bronze Goddess perfume by Estée Lauder.
Q What’s the first wardrobe item you’ll buy for fall?
A The transition from summer to fall means Clemson football season in my family. So I am on the hunt for orange, orange, and more orange (with a splash of purple). I’m eying Caslon’s ”Slub Woven Bomber Jacket.”
Q Who’s one of your favorite Charleston makers?
A Madison-Mathews on Church Street designs precious, versatile pieces that are lightweight and flattering for most all shapes and sizes.
Q How’d you vacation this summer?
A We celebrated my in-laws’ 50th wedding anniversary on an Alaskan cruise. My husband, three kids, and I went to Vancouver for several days beforehand and rented a boat to see the city from the water. The snow-capped mountains surrounding us made it a surreal setting.
Q Are there any outdoor accessories—aside from ZAGS—that you can’t live without?
A My sunglasses; it’s important to protect your eyes from those harmful UV rays! I have many pairs, but my favorites are called ”Whitney” by Tom Ford. My hubby and children gave them to me for Mother’s Day while on our family’s first European vacation in the Cinque Terre in 2012. I love that they are still on trend.
