Style Q&A: Betsy Berry

Style Q&A: Betsy Berry
July 2017

Chatting with the interior designer behind hot properties like Mexican eatery Pancito & Lefty (co-owned by her husband, Robert Berry), Hampden Clothing, and boutique inn 86 Cannon

Q What interior design projects are you working on now?
A
This summer, we’re installing a high-end wine bar on Upper King that I’m really excited about. The space is sexy with a Casablanca twist. That Moroccan city is a place where I’ve been wanting to spend time, and now I get to bring it to life! I’m also working on some big residential projects.

Q Is there a correlation between how you dress yourself and your home?
A
My taste in fashion tends toward a classic, clean look with simple gold accessories. This is reflected in my interiors. I often compare dressing your home to dressing yourself: start with a strong, clean foundation and build in details such as lamps (I love Ralph Lauren’s “Ellis” lamp from Circa Lighting), side tables, and textiles.

Q Are you devoted to a sunglasses style?
A
Stacy Smallwood at Hampden introduced me to Le Specs, and I now own three pairs. The “Air Heart” style is a favorite

Q At home, what’s your tableware of choice?
A
My grandmother’s stark-white bone china mixed with CB2’s “Marta” glassware creates a casual but elegant layout for a summer dinner party.

Q What’s your go-to interior paint color?
A
Anything Farrow & Ball; the pigments used in their paints always hit the nail on the head.

Q Must-have beauty product?
A
Bobbi Brown lip gloss in “Rose Sugar” has been my secret since college!
