Our taste & tell guide to the latest F&B openings in Charleston

Cannon Green
This super-posh Elliotborough event space and eatery is the lovechild of the talented teams behind Stems and Zero George. The newly renovated digs are jaw-droppingly elegant (see the palm-tree lined stone courtyard) and the cuisine is light and fresh. We reveled in nutritious curried quinoa topped with tempura avocado, then moved on to the decidedly less virtuous Mexican chocolate pot de crème; sweet or sinful, the fare was flavor-packed. cannongreencharleston.com

The Americano
Go to this recent arrival along Mount P.’s Coleman Boulevard to check out the beautifully transformed space and the swank décor, channeling mid-century Miami. Stay for the hoppin’ bar scene and well-crafted list of cócteles (we loved the peppery bite of the Aphrodisiac margarita with its half-rim of chili salt) and the diverse menu mixing influences from Cuba, Mexico, and the further south Americas. theamericanomp.com

Tavern & Table
Boasting waterfront views and rustic-elegant appointments, this spot makes an exciting addition to Shem Creek. The drink menu features ample craft beers and cocktails, but nary a listing for teetotalers. On the food side, the cheese and charcuterie plate was decent, though it languished under a heat lamp and our server never identified the selections. The duck meatloaf was more impressive with its tasty sour cherry demi-glace. All in all, there’s plenty to explore here as management works out the kinks. tavernandtable.com
