The March 8 fashion show raises money for the IBU Foundation, which empowers artisans around the world
As the co-chair of this month’s The Fringe Revolution, Dewberry gets to combine two of her passions: design and philanthropy. The March 8 fashion event showcases IBU Movement’s spring collection, while raising money for the IBU Foundation, which provides artisans around the world with resources to expand their capacity and increase their income. Dewberry’s name is familiar because of her family’s Meeting Street hotel, where she and her husband, John, collaborated with Workstead design studio on its chic mid-century modern interiors. She serves as the creative director of the design studio arm of Dewberry’s brand and the director of the charitable foundation, while splitting time between homes in Charleston and Atlanta. Here, she shares which spring styles she’s looking forward to wearing
Q How would you describe your style aesthetic?
A Comfortably chic; I am constantly on my feet and running around on-site at projects, so I’m often in sensible, yet stylish Golden Goose sneakers.
Q What do you look forward to incorporating into your wardrobe for spring?
A Color! For a special event, this lime “Matua” dress by Greta Constantine (above), available on The SIL.
Q Tell us about your skin-care routine.
A After years of struggling with my skin, I’m finally happy with my go-to products. I never miss a morning and evening with Medical Beauty Reseach’s “ContinueLine Three-in-One Cleanser” from Ella Ora (above).
Q Do you have a signature accessory?
A Statement-sized sunglasses; I prefer a vintage find! My current favorites are a Dior pair from a secondhand shop near the Spanish Steps in Rome, Italy.
Q What are your favorite pieces from IBU?
A I’m swooning over a stunning felted silk dress by Seven Sisters, an artisan group out of Kyrgyzstan, and the gold flora jewelry made by Ana Catalina Giraldo out of Colombia (above). When someone asks about a piece that I’m wearing, it brings me joy to be able to tell the story of these amazing women who created the clothing and share the mission of IBU.
Q What are some of your other favorite local stores to shop?
A Hampden has been an all-time favorite for years. It’s another woman-owned business, founded and run by my amazing friend Stacy Smallwood. I am a big fan of the color green, and I love how Hampden has paired these bold Harris Wharf wide-leg, apple-green trousers with this houndstooth pattern blazer (right). A perfect spring look!
