Plus, new shop on King Street sells heirloom leather goods

Now under new ownership, The Charleston Place hotel’s renovated boutique offers a signature collection designed in partnership with local brands.

The Gift of Charleston
Just in time for gift-giving season, The Charleston Place Boutique has debuted a signature collection of chic accessories designed in partnership with popular local brands—including Croghan’s Goldbug Collection, J. Stark, and Brackish. The recently renovated shop also carries works from local artists such as Raven Roxanne, Blakely Made, Sam Sidney, Jonathan Green, and Maria White. During the holiday season, The Charleston Place, now owned by locally based Beemok Hospitality Group, will introduce a Santa’s Workshop and Buxton Books pop-up, which will host story times for children, as well as book signings. From December 16 to 18, the hotel is presenting “Miracle on Market Street,“ closing the thoroughfare for local retail and food vendors and community performances, with proceeds benefiting The Post & Courier’s Good Cheer Fund. Timeless Leather
Kentucky-based Clayton & Crume is bringing its heirloom leather goods to King Street. The brand’s second brick-and-mortar location will offer its best sellers, such classic belts, barware, wallets, key fobs, and dog collars. Marketing director Jeff Arsenault says Clayton & Crume chose Charleston because “the character, charm, and classic nature of the city fit really well with our brand and what we do here. We design our goods not on current trends, but rather through a timeless lens—and King Street is homogenous in that approach.” [332 King St., claytonandcrume.com]

The Stockings Were Hung with Care
Thanks to a collaboration between Charleston’s Smockingbird children’s clothing and Bauble Stockings, your children’s Christmas Eve PJs can match a present hanging on the mantel. Pair Smockingbird’s “Vintage Santa,” “Woodland Creatures,” “Dasher, The Fun Reindeer,” and “Peace on Earth” prints in pima cotton pajamas, smocked dresses, and embroidered shirts with hand-stitched needlepoint stockings. According to tradition, Bauble Stockings, made in Haiti, contain a clue to the final gift of the holidays. Find matching sets on either company’s website or Bauble Stockings at Beau & Ro on King Street. [smockingbirdkids.com]
