Plus, home cooks and interior designers have a new place to shop on King Street for kitchen tools and decor

A Second Home

Home cooks and interior designers have a new place to shop for kitchen tools and decor. After introducing their flagship etúHOME store in Atlanta two years ago, owners Joseph and Stacy Borocz are debuting their second US location on King Street this month. The European-inspired kitchen emporium features sustainibly crafted furniture and accessories made from reclaimed and recycled materials. Customers will find wooden cutting boards, hand-blown glass, and woven market baskets, as well as dining tables, consoles, chairs, and lighting in the 2,000-square foot space. An on-site designer can assist clients in incorporating products into their homes. [173 King St., etuhome.com]

Nailed It

The Water Room, the nontoxic nail salon opened by Bare Beauty blogger Jessica Morse, will become Varnish Lane this month. Washington, DC-based Varnish Lane is known for offering waterless, environmentally friendly manis and pedis that use hot towels, natural skin-care products, and massage in place of soaking tubs. Its polishes are free of nine chemicals found in many commercial brands. In an announcement, The Water Room founders said Varnish Lane provides “a luxury, nontoxic nail care experience, matched with a heightened focus on employees and providing a meaningful and supportive work environment. We are confident that the merger under Varnish Lane will advance our founding mission.” While the staff is expected to remain in place, the Aillea clean beauty store inside The Water Room is relocating to Mount Pleasant. The World is Your Oyster

Just in time for the holiday shopping season, the locally owned Grit & Grace Studio is expanding, opening a second location in the Tellis Pharmacy Building on King Street. Established in 2016 by Rachel Gordon, Grit & Grace Studio specializes in hand-painted oyster shells crafted into ring dishes, jewelry, candles, and gifts. In addition, the store offers a curated selection of Lowcountry-inspired gifts from local artisans and small eco-friendly businesses. [125 King St., gritandgracestudio.com]
