Plus, two favorite local stores are making moves

Lifestyle brand Faherty has opened a store in Freshfields Village and is opening another location next month on King Street.

New in Town

New York-based lifestyle and apparel brand Faherty is moving into the Charleston market, opening two locations—a now-open store in Freshfields Village and coming in September to the former Banana Republic on King Street. Founded in 2013, Faherty is known for its boho-chic, sustainably-minded apparel and accessories for men, women, and children. ”The coastal lifestyle of the area really resonated well with the brand, and we have a strong e-commerce business in the area,“ says marketing manager Jackie Golding. Good Scents

After three friends took a perfume-making class at the Tijon custom fragrance ”lab” while vacationing in St. Martin, they decided to bring the experience to their home state with their own franchise on King Street. The parfumerie offers three classes, depending on customers’ time commitment, including the 20-minute “Fragrance in a Flash.” Clients are led through combining oils to create a signature scent, bottling, and naming their perfumes. The boutique also features its own branded fragrances, including two Charleston-inspired scents, as well as a curated selection of local gifts and retail merchandise. Light the Way

Citing high-demand for their products in the Charleston area, Circa Lighting has relocated to an expansive 3,500-square-foot showroom a few blocks north on King Street. The new space features larger scale fixtures and a state-of-the-art tech lab, where builders, designers, and clients can experience different styles of lighting and custom built-ins. The showroom is open with limited capacity and appointments are encouraged. [532 King St., circalighting.com]

Let it Shine

Charleston Candle Co. is opening a 1,250-square-foot flagship store on St. Philip Street this month, with a grand opening this fall. Owners Chaz and Kristen Schwiers, who launched the business in 2016, will manufacture their soy candles on-site and offer candle-making classes. The retail store also will feature the brand’s Holy City-inspired candle collection and linen sprays, as well as home decor and gift items from local makers.
