Our taste-and-tell guide to some of the latest and most noteworthy food-and-beverage offerings
Frannie & The Fox
With a cozy yet modern vibe and a stunning courtyard reminiscent of an Italian village piazza, this hot spot in the new but already award-winning boutique hotel Emeline has locals revisiting the Market area in droves. With a focus on wood-fired, sharable dishes, executive chef Tim Morton, formerly of Mercantile & Mash, fills the Italian-inspired menu with the balanced, approachable, seasonal fare that is his forte. The pizzas boast perfectly chewy crusts, local farms supply the fresh veggies (which shine in salads and the wood-roasted green beans), and the blue crab fritters really do demand those puppies “hush.” This eatery is easy to love for a variety of occasions, from happy hours to date nights to weeknights that call for comfort food. And don’t miss brunch: offerings such as sweet potato cinnamon rolls and hanger steak with eggs start off a Sunday Funday right. Hotelemeline.com
Pub Fare
Right now, it’s almost too hot to fire up the grill, but if you’re craving a burger, one of the best in town can be found via Instagram. Check @PubFareCHS for its ooey-gooey feed of unctuous smash burgers, plus details on the week’s locations and schedule. Loyal fans follow this pop-up from breweries to Battery games to suburban neighborhoods for two seared-on-a-flat-top beef patties, American cheese, onions, special sauce, and pickles on a potato roll. It’s so simple, but so good, they routinely sell out in less than two hours. Pro tip: get to the day’s spot early and order without modifications for the fastest burger-to-mouth ratio. @PubFareCHS
