Chill out with these refreshing wines that pair well with summer fare


 Al Verdi Pinot Grigio 2011 (Molise, Italy), $9: This best-selling pinot grigio is made completely in stainless steel tanks, creating a crisp and clean winner. With flavors of bright citrus and florals, it pairs beautifully with fresh vegetables and seafood.
 

Poppy Pinot Noir 2010 (Monterey, California), $16: An easy-drinking bright red pinot noir, this vintage is a soft and silky favorite for the summer. Flavors of juicy strawberry and raspberry are in balance with toasted oak and a velvety finish. Sip a glass while watching the sunset and nibbling a cheese plate.
 

Chateau La Tour De L’Eveque Petale de Rose 2010 (Côtes de Provence, France), $20: Hand-picked from the vine in the south of France, the grapes in this organic wine are juicy and smooth with soft flavors of strawberry. Pair this rose with smoked salmon, a soufflé, or Asian foods.
 

Chateau de Pizay 2009 (Morgon, France), $12: This rich, fruity wine is made by four-star hotel, Chateau de Pizay located in Beaujolais and is every bit as elegant as its namesake. It boasts classic gamay flavors of fresh plum, blackberry, and cherry, as well as low tannins and alcohol content. Enjoy it with fish or white meats.
 

Hopler Grüner Veltliner 2010 (Burgenland, Austria), $15: The grüner veltliner varietal is a unique, tasty treat during the dog days of summer. This award-winning wine has flavors of juicy pear and white pepper with crisp minerality on the finish. Enjoy with sushi, pasta, or salad.
