Old Firehouse in Hollywood

Old Firehouse in Hollywood
December 2010
Worth the Drive

The 30-mile haul from downtown through scenic, marshland vistas to this gustatory getaway is a painless price to pay. The delicious reward is heaping plates of seafood mac ’n’ cheese, gargantuan pimiento cheese-slathered artisanal pork chops, and other-worldly wood-fired pizza. Owner Bill Twaler’s linebacker looks barely disguise a heart of gold that’s all about real food he deems “Lowcountry eclectic” and has ably passed on to chef/daughter Helen Becker. We deem it darn good. Check out his Dalmatian curio collection while you eat. 6350 Hwy. 162, Hollywood, (843) 889-9512, www.oldfirehouserestaurant.com
