The aspiring designer shares her fashion and beauty faves

When Charleston-born Ashley Limehouse started practicing yoga 11 years ago, she expected to see physical benefits, but she also discovered a stronger sense of well-being. Now, you can find her guiding yin yoga classes at Still Soul Studio on King Street, as well as online with and friend Kathryn Budig’s Haus of Phoenix. During the pandemic, Limehouse co-founded the Brwn Girl Talk podcast to help Black women stay connected. When she’s not on a yoga mat, Limehouse loves to show off her style, which is heavily influenced by Black culture, and is designing her first clothing collection. Here, she shares her fashion and beauty faves for the New Year

Q What are the most worn items in your wardrobe?
My navy Tibi blazer, R13 “Crossover” denim, and sacai x Nike “Waffle” sneakers. My style is functional yet interesting. I’m into tailoring and a balance between masculine and feminine pieces.

Q What are the most treasured pieces in your closet?
My sacai jumpsuit [above is the Japanese designer’s resort take] that was gifted to me by my best friends and my Maison Margiela “Tabi” heels.

Q What is on your wish list for the New Year?
Candles and plates from Fornasetti (above) or vintage art from Home Union in New York. As far as fashion pieces, a wool coat from Aimé Leon Dore and a Simone Rocha beaded crystal bag.

Q Who are some of your favorite local makers and shops?
Lina Rosa makes beautiful hand-beaded earrings inspired by travel; my friend Dani Motley’s flower truck Salt + Stem, and Hampden Clothing.

Q Tell us about your skin-care routine.
I was a licensed esthetician, so I enjoy finding new and innovative products, but I’m mostly all green these days. I partner with Aillea, and I’m loving this firming serum by Alpyn Beauty (above). I’m never without a weekly peel pad from M-61, a gentle face wash, and sunscreen every day. Smooth and protected is my MO.

Q Do you have a signature accessory?
A bandana scarf from Urban Outfitters around my neck and a baseball cap. I like the way it adds a little something extra.

Q What do you do for self-care beyond your yoga practice?
Taking a little “me” time every day is self-care, whether that’s a quiet coffee at my favorite Babas on Cannon, meditating for 15 minutes, or a salt bath from Pursoma (above). It’s the small joys that help me mostly.
