Folly Beach Eats
Chico Feo is not alone in its international inspirations and may have helped pave the way for other global island fare, namely Jack of Cups Saloon on Folly’s main drag. Look for the Jack of Hearts statue on the rooftop, and let your nose be your guide. Follow the scent of rich curries and aromatic chutneys into the tiny bar, then wait shoulder-to-shoulder with other diners vying for seats. Choose from smartly curated taps, or a lavender kombucha, or musky Australian viognier. Laughter emanates from a pint-sized kitchen where dishes clank as co-owner and executive chef Lesley Carroll leads the charge, plating up beet dumplings, pork belly tacos, ginger noodle salads, bibimbap skillets, and lamb vindaloo, to name but a few recently devoured dishes on the ever-changing menu. A haven for vegetarians, vegans, and omnivores alike, with sidewalk booths and a sunny back courtyard, Jack of Cups is proof that a world of extraordinary flavors can exist in small spaces.
Head through the tiny bar to the sunny back courtyard and order up a feast of globally inspired dishes, such as chana masala, the coco lime noodle bowl, and red curry mac ’n’ cheese.
Open daily, noon-10 p.m. 34 Center St., jackofcupssaloon.com
