Tip: Amaryllis bulbs are a favorite for forcing indoors—and then planting outside—but this season, skip the everyday red variety. The Garden Club of Charleston’s Fall Flower Power fundraiser is selling a rainbow of options until November 29 ( For example, try ‘Apple Blossom’ (above), an easy-grower that’ll stand out in spring landscapes and floral displays.

November 7, 14, & 21 - Garden Work Days

Lend a hand at Fresh Future Farm, the nonprofit organization sowing innovative seeds in Chicora/Cherokee, a North Charleston neighborhood experiencing food apartheid. 2008 Success St. Saturday, 7-10 a.m. Free.

November 8 - CHS Fall Garden Tour

Charleston Horticultural Society has a calendar filled with events this month, but the headliner is their annual tour. Explore eight private landscapes in Wagener Terrace and Hampton Park, plus public spaces such as the Enston Home Urban Garden. Locations vary. Sunday, 11 a.m.-4 p.m. $55-$35.  

November 10 - SC Herbal Society Meeting 

Join in the South Carolina Herbal Society’s monthly meeting to learn about “Kitchen Herb Medicinals” from Liz Firestone, a clinical family herbalist with Crescent Moon Apothecary. Held online. Tuesday, 7-8:30. $10; free for member.

November 14 - CHS Hort Workshops

Settle in for a day of virtual Charleston Horticultural Society workshops, from a holiday floral design class to a Thanksgiving-themed session on Colonial-era women in agriculture. Held online. Times & prices vary.
