Get Growing!
March 2014
Dig into this month's Carolina Yard Gardening School

Some of the greenest thumbs in the Lowcountry—and around the region, even—are combining forces for one full day of green inspiration and education on Saturday, March 22. Created by the Clemson Extension and Tri-County Master Gardeners, the 2014 Carolina Yard Gardening School aims to “bring busy people together for one day to immerse themselves in their favorite pastime—gardening,” says Amy Dabbs, the Clemson Extension’s urban horticulture extension agent for the tri-county area.
Participants can choose among lectures focused on everything from heirloom veggie growing to Southern landscape design principles. They can also get hands-on during workshops like “Creating a Haven for Backyard Birds” (craft your own birdhouse with a living succulent roof!) and “Worm Composting for Gardeners.”

The $75 registration fee includes one soil test, lunch and refreshments, compost, and a plant problem diagnosis clinic.

Charleston Exchange Park, 9850 Hwy. 78, Ladson. Saturday, 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. $75. (843) 722-5940 ext. 122, calendar.clemson.edu
