History:
Casting for Beauties

Long before Taco Boy’s frozen screwdrivers or SUP lessons were around, fun in the sun on “The Edge of America” in the 1950s included amusements and putt-putt at the Ocean Plaza, dancing on the Folly Beach Pier, and a perennial favorite: fishing. Pictured here are two 1952 beauty queens, “Miss Charleston” Florence Huxford (casting into the surf) and “Miss Azalea” Barbara Foler.
