The crew from Katherine Miller Events (that’s Katherine in the green) and Nathalie from stems get their table camera-ready.
This super-sweet chandelier from Ooh! Events sported some killer electric candle lights, but for this look, I wanted to play with the calamondin oranges we had gotten from Joan MacDonald’s garden.
Anne Bowen of stems (right) and I sort out how we’re going to place the bouquet in the bride’s chair. It only takes two people when you’re about to crush the flowers (like I was) and someone (Anne) has to come to the rescue.
I felt like the tabletop arrangement needed a little break in the color, so Anne and I tied a band of Midori silk around it. I loved how it pulled the orange from the napkins onto the table.
Here we go again. Just trying to keep it even for the shot. And decide on a bow, knot, cut ends, and so on. This is when my dad usually asks me what this has to do with my journalism degree. That he paid for.
The Charleston Bride Table before we’ve moved all the extra junk out of the way! It always amazes me what’s right off screen when everything in the shot is so meticulous and orderly.
Seriously business here: aligning the Celadon rug so the table’s centered from photographer Frank Edward’s perspective. I’m looking at him and laughing. It’s always so weird how lining things up in the camera might not match reality.
Katherine’s table needed a favor, and I’d just received a little pot of calamondin marmalade from Joan MacDonald, which seemed perfect for the palette. Joan gave us her stash of jams, Dodeline designs added little monogrammed pot toppers to match the rest of the printed elements on the table, and Katherine picked a cute plaid ribbon to dress them in. Tada!
And there it is!
One of the cutest things from Katherine’s table? This little “a dab of decadence” spreader.
Carrie Glasscock from A Charleston Bride sews pillowcases on set for their garden chic table. Apparently this is normal for the ACB gals—they will sew anywhere they can run an extension cord. Love it!
Leigh Warren from A Charleston Bride hand-finishes the pillows for their table. The end chairs (love them!) came from their own stash; the table is from Coralberry cottage, and the Chiavari chairs were loaned by Snyder.
Melissa Barton (right) and Leigh from A Charleston Bride tried a few ways to get the wicker lamps to hang at just the right height. In the end, they just hung them from the rafters at stems. I love shooting there! Everything’s on casters and can be rolled away, the light is great, and the backdrop is so clean. No wonder it’s primo for holding events.
How much do I love these golden fig bud vases from GDC Home? Lots. And then some more. The A Charleston Bride gals placed them on each plate and we loved how they brought the gold from the chairs onto to tabletop, and contrasted with the flat finish of the table.
Melissa Barton (right) puts some finishing touches on the A Charleston Bride table.
One of the Soirettes from Tara Guérard Soirée makes the sewn table number camera-ready.
Tara’s place cards could double as favors for her table guests. She had a few options of napkins embroidered with names to suit, and did all of them in her family’s names so she could use them after home after the shoot. Smart woman!
