“WE THE PEOPLE: Portraits of Veterans in America”

In 2010, internationally renowned watercolorist Mary Whyte set out to make a monumental series of 50 large-scale portraits of American veterans—one from each state—which will debut at the City Gallery at Waterfront Park. Through emotive figures that emerge from sweeping backgrounds, Whyte thoughtfully conveys the diverse experiences of veterans returning to civilian life. This seven-year- long project also led Whyte to form the Patriot Art Foundation, which seeks to celebrate our military and provide veterans and their families therapy services. City Gallery at Waterfront Park, 34 Prioleau St. Tuesday-Friday, 11am-6pm; Saturday & Sunday, noon-5pm.
