The Void is collaborating with South of Broadway Theatre Company to present Bekah Brunstetter’s The Cake. Based on Masterpiece Cake Shop v. Colorado Civil Rights Commission—a case about a gay couple who believe their civil rights were violated when the owner of the bakeshop refused to make their wedding cake because of his Christian beliefs—the thought-provoking show features an all-local cast and a devoutly Christian baker’s moral dilemma when her goddaughter returns home to North Carolina with a fiancée.
