TEDXCHARLESTON

Those familiar with TED—a nonprofit that creates videos of expert speakers sharing stories regarding education, science, technology, and creativity—now have the chance to see lectures in person through TEDx, a branch of independently organized TEDTalks whose speakers are local to the area. The 21-person lineup of talks includes everyone from a horticultural scientist, cardiologist, and active duty naval officer to nurse, social worker, and college freshman who will discuss issues pertinent to our area, like flooding and sustainable agriculture. Throughout the afternoon conference, several musical acts, such as members of the Charleston Symphony Orchestra will perform. An after-party follows at The Charleston Museum. Charleston Music Hall, 37 John St. Wednesday, 12:30-5pm. $78. www.Tedexcharleston.org
