
Local artisans showcase the Gullah Geechee tradition of weaving baskets out of sweetgrass, which has been passed down from generation to generation along the sea islands. In addition to the Sweetgrass Basket & Craft Show, you can hear Gullah storytelling and listen to local musicians. On the eve of the festival, enjoy Lowcountry cuisine and hear speaker Dr. Tonya Matthews, the CEO of the recently opened International African American Museum, at the second-annual Taste of Sweetgrass Culture Dinner Experience at the Cooper River Room.
