This longtime Charleston tradition has moved to November (no one likes sweating in a kilt, after all)! The Scottish Society of Charleston fills the autumn day with music—there’s the piping and drumming competition, as well as a fiddling showdown—and awes the crowd with heavy athletic competitions, including the “Stone of Strength” and caber toss. A beer garden and activities for the kids make the occasion fun for all. Boone Hall Plantation, 1235 Long Point Rd., Mount Pleasant. Saturday, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. $20; $5 ages six-12; free for child under six. (843) 884-4371, www.charlestonscots.org
