Get a glimpse of the Morris Island Lighthouse as you head to Bowen’s Island restaurant to help raise money to preserve the structure, which was first illuminated in 1876. Enjoy local steamed oysters, hot dogs, chili, and desserts, as well as beer and wine, while listening to live music by the Shakin’ Martinis. Since 1999, Save the Light, Inc. has worked to restore the lighthouse and is currently raising funds for a third phase: repairing the interior walls, stairs, rails, and roof and replacing the glass in the lantern room.
