In a circa-1925 photo, the Charleston Fire Department’s Motor Engine Company Number 7 poses outside its Cannon Street station (still in service today).
Several fire houses originally built for volunteer companies, including the German Fire Company at 8 Chalmers, went into service for the Charleston Fire Department in 1882.
