The Party: The 10th-annual Oxygen Ball, hosted by the American Lung Association in South Carolina, was glitzier than ever—the theme, Dancing Through the Decades, brought tunes from across the ages, but the dances were anything but dated. This year’s celebrity dancers included ABC News 4 journalist Erica Scripa, owner of Palmetto Commercial Properties Eddie Buxton, artist Jennifer McGrath, nurse and entrepreneur Connie Nelson, and Wells Fargo mortgage consultant Reagan Ferguson. Each dancer was paired with a professional partner, and after countless hours of practice, the couples took to the floor to compete for the title of Lowcountry Dancing with the Stars Champion. In the end, it was Buxton and his partner Galina Maiduc who took home the trophies after a show-stopping routine. Partygoers were invited to the dance floor following the competition, and all proceeds from the event benefitted the American Lung Association.
The Highlight: Erica Scripa and her partner Andrey Gergel’s gravity-defying lift, à la Dirty Dancing
Overheard: “Ok, I'm officially signing us up for ballroom dance classes."—a guest to her husband while watching the competition
