The Party: Guests gathered at the gorgeous Lowndes Grove Plantation for the Charleston edition of the James Beard Foundation's Celebrity Chef Tour. With specialty gin cocktails in hand, people enjoyed live music as they awaited the five course meal prepared by renowned chefs Digby Stridiron, Asha Gomez, Mike Lata, Jason Stanhope, Shuai Wang, Jessica Grossman, and Emily Luchetti. Before dinner was served, James Beard National Advisory Board member and president of Patrick Properities Hospitality Group—a co-host for the evening—Randall Goldman gave an interesting speech on the story of the famous James Beard. Combining traditional Southern cuisine with global flavors, the chefs dished out mouth-watering courses, including a buttery Lowcountry seafood salad, chicken-fried duck confit, and stewed okra and butterbean dumplings, each paired with a complementary wine.
Highlight: The third course, chicken-fried duck confit paired with the "Kung Fu Girl" Reisling
