The Party: Guests arrived at the Charleston Mariott ballroom for an afternoon of fashion and philanthropy. In addition to the silent auction of luxury handbags filled with surprises, there was a runway show for the fall line of St. John Knits, as well as a live auction with prizes such as a trip to Italy. The luncheon raised $160,000 for the Ronald McDonald House, which provides a “home-away-from-home” for families that have a child undergoing medical treatment—including the guests of honor, the Shell family, whose middle daughter is fighting a sickle-cell disease.
