Having grown up sailing in the Caribbean, Shaun Brian knows a thing or two about seafood.
Brian and his business partner, Chris John, updated the old Huff’s Seafood on Folly Road, opening last December to sell fresh fish, smoked items, fried fish sandwiches, and crudos.
Joy Ride: “I really enjoy riding my Ducati here, whether down to the Battery or out to Wadmalaw. The riding culture here is great.”
For Kicks: "I played soccer for the US Virgin Islands national team in the 2014 World Cup qualifiers. I play in Charleston with a Jamaican team. It makes me feel a bit like I'm home."
The Dish: “I got into ceramics as a kid at an arts center in St. John. Then, when I went to boarding school, I worked with a master ceramicist. It became a meditation to center myself.”
Family Heirloom: “My cast-iron pan got handed down to me through my dad. It’s super old. It’s so smooth from years and years of wear, you don’t have to do anything to it.”
Surf’s Up: “I bought this board when I moved up here. I’d always surfed small, thin boards. I moved over to basically a dad-bod board. You can still rip it though—it’s actually faster.”
