College of Charleston Italian studies professor Giovanna De Luca launched this film festival in 2006 to share Italian history and culture with Lowcountry audiences. The festival features 13 contemporary films with English subtitles, welcoming directors to discuss the themes of their work. Earlier this year, the festival presented the US premiere of the 2022 documentary Franco Zeffirelli: conformista ribelle (Rebel Conformist) by Anselma Dell’Olio, about the acclaimed director.
