Public Works Art Center executive director Jana Riley is leading the nonprofit’s capital campaign with an aim to expand the center’s footprint and programming, as well as add a small business incubation space for artisans.
The center’s clay workshop offers beginner-friendly classes as well as open studio times for seasoned ceramists.
Last September’s carnival-themed block party included live mural painting, artsy games, and performances.
Summerville’s Public Works Art Center featured Doug McAbee’s whimsical “More Light” exhibit, including wood silhouettes connected by a mural, as well as colorful metal sculptures (not pictured), last summer.
Visitors take in the sixth annual “SPARK” exhibition with pieces submitted by community members of all ages and skill levels to match the theme “Harmony.” This May, “Youth Art Month” is on exhibit in the South Gallery, featuring 100 works from local students, curated by art teachers.
