Outdoor living was the prime directive for busy doctors Jason and Lisa Annan while envisioning their new home. Along with their two boys, Cooper (left) and Finnegan (center), the couple loves to spend their free time outside.
At the side entrance, the mudroom’s custom cubbies for each member of the family help keep everything organized.
The half bath adds a pop of pattern to the largely neutral downstairs, courtesy of Serena & Lily’s geometric fern wallpaper, “Granada.” Hudson Valley “Curves No.1” sconces shine above the pale green vanity.
The primary suite is bright and airy, thanks to floorto- ceiling windows and a 19-foot vaulted ceiling. Walnut beams and the “Dana” nightstands from McGee & Co. help ground the space. The Bernhardt “Derrick” bed and Serena & Lily “Riviera” rattan bench sit on a large Oushak rug.
The home’s fifth bedroom does double duty as a sitting room and study, with four Verellen “Jan” swivel club chairs covered in Fermoie’s “Popple” fabric surrounding a marble and oak “Dala” coffee table by Moe’s Home Collection.
A large island topped with “Bianco Matarazzo” dolomite separates the bright white kitchen, where antique copper lanterns from Lantern & Scroll pop against the cabinets.
The dining area features a vaulted ceiling with grooved walnut planks. A reclaimed oak table by Salt Wood Co. dominates the space illuminated by a Chapman & Myers “Marigot” chandelier.
The large, open living area provides plenty of space for the active family while retaining a cozy feel thanks to built-in cabinetry around the brick fireplace, an oversized rug from Fine Rugs of Charleston, and ample seating strategically placed to break up the space. Exposed walnut beams on the 11-foot ceiling, matching French doors that flank the room, and walnutstained floors add warmth and architectural interest.

Above the fireplace, another nature-inspired piece by Shannon Wood with Charleston Artist Collective adds a touch of color to the neutral room, which, like much of the house, is painted in Benjamin Moore’s “Cloud Cover.”
The plethora of outdoor spaces boast ipe flooring and CopperSmith “Contempo” lanterns that flank the numerous sets of French doors. The back porch features two dining areas and a large lounge space furnished from Palecek’s “Montecito” collection.
A pair of Lee Industries swivel chairs and an ottoman make up a pretty reading area.
The tucked-away butler’s pantry continues the cool palette, providing plenty of storage space and a study nook for son Finn.
