Local fashion designer Devin Smalls and his Highest in the Room art collective bring the Gullah Gala fashion event to the International African American Museum, showcasing fashion, art, and music of the Gullah Geechee culture and the African Diaspora. Attendees are encouraged to dress in Roaring ’20s attire for this year’s “Gullah Gatsby” theme. Look for other events to be held during the weekend. Smalls launched the Highest in the Room art collective and hosted the first Gullah Gala fashion show in 2022 and debuted his own clothing brand, RèJuvón, a year later.
