Directed by Todd McNerney at the Emmett Robinson Theatre, this dark satire from the College of Charleston Theatre Department reimagines the rise of Adolf Hitler, recasting the dictator as a fictional, small-time gangster who takes over Chicago’s greengrocery trade in the 1930s. Written by German playwright Bertolt Brecht in 1941, the show represents first-hand observations of Nazism, as well as modern-day instances of totalitarianism. Emmett Robinson Theatre at Simons Center for the Arts, 54 St. Philips St. Thursday-Saturday & Monday-Tuesday, 7:30pm; Sunday, 2pm. $25-$12. (843)953-6306, www.charleston.edu
