The Charleston Library Society hosts resident bookbinder James Davis for this workshop that allows guests to craft their own journal to take home. Materials, including paper, board, and threads, will be provided to students, who will be instructed on the techniques and practices of bookbinding. Davis will also discuss the history of the practice, as well as conservation techniques used to preserve books in local museums and libraries.
