Conceptual artist Fred Wilson, who has received such accolades as the MacArthur Foundation’s “Genius” grant (1999) and the Ford Foundation’s The Art of Change Award (2017), will speak on his work at the Charleston Music Hall as a part of this Gibbes Museum series. As a creator, he aims to challenge assumptions of history, culture, and race, and will have an exhibit at the Gibbes this spring exploring the historically overlooked communities of African descent in Europe.
