Focusing on the period between 1800 and 1925, “A Shared Legacy: Folk Art in America” highlights the contributions of some of America’s most admired folk artists, many of whom received little to no formal training in their lifetimes. The exhibition features works ranging from portraits to still-life paintings, antique furniture to intricate and allegorical landscape scenes. The pieces reflect a unique era of American history and are unparalleled examples of expression during a time of increasing social change. Gibbes Museum of Art, 135 Meeting St. Thursday-Saturday, 10am-5pm; Wednesday, 10am-8pm; Sunday, 1-5pm. $15; $13 senior/active military; $10 college student; $6 under 18.
