Hackathon 4: Pirates of Silicon Harbor, delivering action and adventure August 23 and 24. No, it’s not the latest summer blockbuster, but instead a gathering of 100-plus computer whizzes competing in (often-costumed) teams to design, code, test, build, and deploy the best mobile app in 13 hours.
The creation process goes down on Saturday at the event hosted by local software company SPARC. On Sunday, the public is invited to watch the top 10 teams present demos in front of the judges; catch ”Ignite Talks” from SPARC staffers, local experts, and event sponsors; join in code classes offering an intro to mobile development; and bid in a silent auction raising funds for community outreach program SPARC Gives.
