Crew LaLa outfits pooches with dapper bow ties

As a frequent doggy foster mama, Heather Parker likes to make her pups feel special. So when a scraggly dog named Lucky was having trouble finding a family, she realized that she needed something extra to highlight his dapper personality. Combining her love of dogs and design, she created a custom collar with a matching bow tie. That very week, Lucky found his forever home. What started as a sweet gesture turned into a career for the former ad rep in 2011.

These days, the Charleston resident sells her canine creations under the moniker Crew LaLa, honoring her chocolate Lab, Crew. She offers handmade collars and leashes in preppy seersucker, madras, and chevron fabrics. The Paris Collection was inspired by a stint overseas, and the Collegiate Line is perfect for sporty pups.

Parker and her quality control expert, Crew, plan to add beds, bowls, and a specialty wedding line to their offerings in the future. Crew LaLa products are available at crewlala.com and at Alpha Dog Omega Cat downtown.
