“Luminous Landscapes: The Golden Age of British Watercolors”

This exhibition features a collection of works on paper given to the Gibbes in 2004 by avid traveler and collector John Wigger. Showcasing a halcyon age for the medium, when styles evolved with fresh colors, lighting, and looser brushstrokes, “Luminous Landscapes” features English painters John Varley, Paul Sandby, and David Cox Sr. and their paintings of the countryside, the sea, and village life. Gibbes Museum of Art, 135 Meeting St. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday-Saturday, 10 a.m.-5p.m.; Wednesday, 10 a.m.-8 p.m.; Sunday, 1 p.m.-5 p.m. $12; $10 student, senior, & military; $6 ages four-17.
