Grammy award-winning singer-songwriter Gregory Porter and Dave Koz & Friends headline this two-night jazz festival, being curated for the first time in a collaboration between producer Tony Clarke and the Gaillard Center. Singer-songwriter and guitarist Jonathan Butler kicks off the show on Saturday, with Atlanta-based singer Avery Sunshine (below) opening on Sunday. The weekend’s lineup combines smooth jazz with blues and soul, intended to represent Charleston’s role in the early development and spread of jazz music. The festival benefits Closing the Gap in Health Care, a nonprofit that works to decrease health disparities through educational outreach. Don’t miss Friday’s White Linen Cocktail Party, including a performance by Nathan Mitchell, a silent disco, and a private tour of the International African American Museum. Gaillard Center, 95 Calhoun St. Saturday & Sunday, 7:30 p.m. $58-$173; cocktail party, $150. (843) 242-3099, www.gaillardcenter.org
