“Lovely & Lethal: Killer Fashions from the Collection”

Developing a personal sense of style can be an art, but blindly following some fashion trends has proven to be deadly. Explore the sinister secrets of clothing and accessories from wardrobes past— including arsenic-laced green pigments and pieces that led to decimated animal populations—in The Charleston Museum’s Historic Textiles Gallery. On September 28, bring your gently used clothing and go home with new-to-you items at the opening party with the Naked Lady Society, which promotes sustainable fashion through clothing swaps. While participation in the swap is free, reservations are encouraged, and wine, charcuterie, and desserts will be available for purchase. The Charleston Museum, 360 Meeting St. Monday-Saturday, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. & Sunday, noon-5 p.m. $30-$6. (843) 722-2996, www.charlestonmuseum.org
