The musical that won eight Tony Awards in 2019 brings the underworld to the stage of the North Charleston Performing Arts Center. Singer-songwriter Anaïs Mitchell is the fourth woman in Broadway history to write the music, lyrics, and book for a musical. In Hadestown, she reimagines the Greek myths of Orpheus and Eurydice and Hades and Peresphone set to folk music and New Orleans-inspired jazz. The story explores themes of love, hope, faith, and resilience in a world that is out of balance. North Charleston Performing Arts Center, 5001 Coliseum Dr., North Charleston.
