One door closes, and a brown box opens: When Finicky Filly temporarily shut for renovations in February, the store didn’t want to deprive clients of their favorite brands. The Brown Box Club, a subscription-style clothing service (www.brownboxclub.com) was born.
Customers can request garments via social media or House Account—an app facilitating remote shopping at many boutiques—and stylist Toni O’Hagan assembles them, along with some surprises based on the client’s taste. (“We want to preserve that element of Christmas,” says co-owner Rebecca Steinberg.)
For some 200 gals across the country, Christmas comes early and often (once a month or bimonthly) in the form of four full outfits; they ship back what doesn’t work for free.
