Tip: Freeze warning in effect? Water your plants. This will make their cells more turgid and strong and act as an insulator, protecting roots and retaining heat. As that heat is released, it’ll also warm the air at the soil line.

At this Charleston Horticultural Society fundraiser, scoop up bundles of greenery, fresh garlands, and beautiful wreaths (made of materials ranging from Fraser fir to Spanish moss). Christmas Wreath Class

At this installment of the South Carolina Herbal Society’s monthly meeting, founder Pat Harpell guides attendees in making herbal wreaths and wall hangings. All materials are supplied, but bring a dish to share or herbal tea to drink.
