While renovating their 5,000-square-foot home in I’On, one couple didn’t neglect their bedroom. “We wanted to design a space that was inviting, relaxing, and peaceful while showcasing the marsh views,” explains Allison Elebash, owner of Allison Elebash Interior Design in Mount Pleasant.
The key to this transformation was emptying the bedroom of distractions, such as clutter and the television. “We moved the TV that was over the dresser to an adjacent sitting room [replacing it with a large, beaded mirror] and implemented an organization and storage solution in a new walk-in closet to allow for the main room to be a place of relaxation and peace, both visually and mentally.” Adopting a soothing coastal color palette and soft grasscloth walls helped with this relaxing ambiance.
Elebash replaced most of the dark wood with soft blues and creams. A large base rug from Stark Carpet covers the hardwood floors, the wooden ceiling fan was swapped out for a coco bead light fixture from Made Goods, and the four-poster made way for an upholstered bed wrapped in a baby blue Maresca fabric from Fritz Porter. The shade pairs beautifully with the Doorman Design nightstands that were painted to match. “The bed creates a statement through both profile and pattern that the rest of the room echoes through color and detail,” says Elebash.
