“Calling Me Home: A Visual Ode to the Lowcountry” & “Children of Indigo”

The City of Charleston Office of Cultural Affairs presents a moving photography exhibition from Southern photojournalist Marcus Middleton. Billed as a “tribute to Wadmalaw Island and its environs,” the exhibit includes more than 100 images. Additionally, City Gallery will also display works by Washington DC-based photographer Caroline Gutman in “Children of Indigo,” a documentary project that explores the plant-based commodity, how its dye fueled slavery in the American colonies, and its modern reclamation by Lowcountry communities. City Gallery at Joe Riley Waterfront Park, 34 Prioleau St. Thursday-Sunday, noon-5pm.
