BLACK INK: AFRICAN AMERICAN BOOK FESTIVAL

Hosted by Charleston Friends of the Library, this fest supports local African American writers and aims to expose a broader audience of readers to their work. Hoping to surpass last year’s numbers—50 authors and more than 500 attendees—this year’s event has even more in store. Keynote speakers are celebrated novelist Terry McMillan and Newberry Award-winning author Kwame Alexander (above). Charleston County Public Library, 68 Calhoun St. Saturday, 11am. $65 for keynotes; free for other events.
