Bill Murray Look-Alike Polar Plunge

Dress as Phil in Groundhog Day, Dr. Peter Venkman in Ghostbusters, Carl Spackler in Caddyshack, or any other character played by actor Bill Murray and take a dunk into the Atlantic during the Folly Beach polar plunge. Arrive at 9 a.m. to register and participate in the costume contest, which costs $5 to enter. A portion of proceeds help support Pet Helpers, which operates an adoption center and spay/neuter clinic. On Sullivan’s Island, Dunleavy’s Pub hosts a polar plunge benefitting the Special Olympics of South Carolina, while The Sanctuary at Kiawah Island Golf Resort also offers an opportunity take part in the New Year’s Day tradition. Tides Hotel, 1 Center St., Folly Beach.
