In this combined exhibit at the Halsey Institute of Contemporary Art, artists Chris Jordan and Aurora Robson shed light on the issue of plastic pollution in the ocean through works of art. Jordan‘s “Midway“ features a series of photographs from a trip to Midway Atoll, a remote island in the North Pacific Ocean. These shocking images depict the scene he stumbled upon there—hundreds of dead albatrosses with stomachs filled with plastic and garbage found in the nearby waters. Conjointly, Robson‘s “found art“ exhibit tries to reduce this pollution by incorporating discarded plastic to create surreal sculpture installations. Halsey Institute of Contemporary Art, 161 Calhoun St. Monday-Saturday, 11am-4pm; Thursday, 11am-7pm. Free. (843)953-4422, www.halsey.cofc.edu
