Seagrass Rugs

Seagrass Rugs
March 2011
PHOTOGRAPHER:

Start with a seagrass rug—jute works well, too, as its small fibers make for a smooth surface—and a pleasing color combo. Using one-inch painter’s tape, mark out your pattern. Choose a chevron stripe like ours, a streamlined pinstripe, or alternating-width bands. Fill in the stripes with flat wall paint, let dry, then welcome guests with a cool cocktail as fresh as your new motif.

Total Spent: $57

Note: For small 3 by 5-foot rugs, buy paint in $3 sample sizes.
