Conversations with a Curator

Join Charleston Museum textiles curator Jan Hiester as she explores the popularity of botanical patterns in the Lowcountry. Learn about the origins of the widely used chintz material and the adopted techniques for sewing beautiful quilts. As you hear stories about the women who created these intricate works, peruse the display of 19th-century whitework baskets, elaborately printed chintz appliqués, and 20th-century nature-inspired patterns. The Charleston Museum, 360 Meeting St. Friday, 10:30-11:30am. $12; free to passholder.
